Earlier it was suspected that the Blackberry Playbook, RIMs tablet, would be available April 10th but that seems to be untrue. The North American release will in fact be April 19th and Best Buy/Future Shop are already taking pre-orders as part of a joint relationship. No International release has been announced.
The WiFi versions of the PlayBook will be priced at $499, $599, and $699 for 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB, respectively.
It will have iPad 2 rivalling features such as the dual-core processor and support for 1080p video playback. The PlayBook has a 7″ screen and a unique active bezel that allows a user to bring up sets of controls by swiping fingers from just off the screen.
No dates or prices have been announced for the Sprint 4G version of the PlayBook, which we first learned about at CES in January. So if you have yet to get on the tablet bandwagon because you don’t like Apple or the iPad then this may be your chance to show Steve Jobs how you feel.
