We regret to inform those who were looking forward to Mega Man Universe, it has indeed been cancelled. First appearing at the Tokyo Game Show last September, there has been very little to no news of the game since. Capcom’s Japanese site was the first to release this story, with very little to say besides production of the game has been closed due to “various circumstances”.
Mega Man Universe was a downloadable game that promised user-created levels. The world would incorporate other famous Capcom favourites, such as Ryu or Ken from Street Fighter. Keiki Inafune, the father of the original Mega Man, was closely associated with this game. He became frustrated with his own inability to manage people and his own creative interests. He left Capcom in October for these reason.
There is little other information on this cancellation, but my speculation? It was hard to continue on without Inafune’s creative direction. Thoughts?

This is sad news. Really sad. That first trailer made it seem so awesome.
