In an incredible effort to keep the fire burning, it seems the Sega Dreamcast is still getting developer love as two more games are releasing for the console this year. (The Dreamcast 2 will happen!) Some of you may remember GunLord, the 2D platformer that released last year in hopes of finding success with nostalgic retro gamers who have great taste in consoles, courtesy of developer NG:Dev Team. This year, Hucast Games is looking to release a game of their own, in addition to one they just released in December.
After finding success on KickStarer by reaching more than double their intended pledge goal, Hucast Games released Redux: Dark Matters, a space shoot ‘em up (all the cools kids say shmup) featuring six stages and “tons of weapons.” Now the developer is at it again with The Ghost Blade, a top-down shooter with multiple game modes. Details about availability and development updates can be found on the dev team’s official WordPress blog. Pre-orders just opened today for the special “Supporter Edition” (collector’s edition) and as of now there are only scheduled to be 300 copies of this version made, so if you’re thinking about purchasing you may have to dive in head first. Additional versions can be pre-ordered here. The Ghost Blade is scheduled to release sometime later this year.
I think it goes without saying that I’ll support just about any software venture that keeps the Dreamcast alive and in our hearts, but what about you all? Did you pick up either GunLord or Redux: Dark Matters when they released last year? Who’s interested in picking up the “Supporter’s Edition” of The Ghost Blade? Let us know in the comments!
