The 41 megapixel camera phone Nokia Lumia 1020 will be made available in Canada via the telecom companies Rogers and Telus. While no concrete information regarding its arrival date, price etc. has been unveiled, it is believed that this hugely anticipated model will be available in black and yellow colours. It may be noted that the handset was launched via AT&T last month, which went smooth and on time. As Nokia continue to expand its Lumia series, release of its higher models could follow soon in the coming time.
The handset’s camera, quite obviously, is its USP. The innovative downsampling technology which debuted in Nokia 808 Pureview has been brought over to a Windows phone for the first time. The camera comes with the ‘state of the art’ lenses which have the zoom optics feature, said to be quite unique for a camera phone. The ‘digital zoom’ lenses that range from wide-angle to telescopic have existed for long in camera phones, but they haven’t been able to get anywhere near to professional zoom lenses, and therefore rendered a disappointment by many.
In simpler terms, these lenses lets one shoot in super high resolution, which means zooming in close to the shot after it has been taken. Other pro features like focus adjustment, white balance, and shutter speed are also bundled with the camera phone. One can also record sharp, detailed HD videos with 6X zoom without any loss of quality in this all new Lumia, capturing distortion-free stereo sound.
Other standout features of the phone include a powerful 1.5 Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor coupled with 2 GB of ram and 32 GB of internal space. The display is a 4.5 inch super AMOLED touchscreen with a 720p resolution, good viewing angles and outdoor visibility. The touch panel is super sensitive boasting of usage even while wearing gloves. Nokia Music and voice guided navigation – both Lumia unique features, continue to be a part of Lumia 1020 too.
