Playstation Store offering discounts on Japanese Vita games

Playstation Store offering discounts on Japanese Vita games

Michael Lacerna 12 Aug

Sony will be hosting a two week long sale on Japanese developed Vita games starting tomorrow, so you’ll be able to get your fill of panty shots and badly dubbed cut-scenes without having to empty your wallet.

Highlights from the first week of the sale include Soul Sacrifice, the Vita-exclusive Monster Hunter-clone from former Capcom producer and Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune. Personally, I don’t think Soul Sacrifice plays quite as well as Capcom’s money printing Monster Hunter series, but its a worthwhile alternative if you want a different take on the multiplayer action RPG formula. The Vita version of Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core Plus R will also be on sale, so fighting game fans should use this opportunity to brush up on their Guilty Gear skills before the amazing looking Xrd SIGN comes out.

Best of all, Sony’s gravity defying platformer Gravity Rush will also go on sale for 50% off. The game has been available as one of the Playstation Plus’ free games for a few months now, but if you’ve somehow missed it so far, definitely pick it up — it’s one of the best games available on the Vita.

The second week of the sale will bring discounts for the newly released Muramasa Rebirth and the Vita versions of Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Dead or Alive 5, and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. I haven’t had a chance to try out Muramasa Rebirth yet, but if it’s anything like the original version of the game (which was one of my favorite Wii games,) then it’ll definitely be worth getting.

As for titles to avoid, well, don’t bother with Silent Hill: Book of Memories. I’m not sure why it’s included in a sale on Japanese games since it wasn’t developed in Japan, but besides that, it’s just not a very good game. It’s easily one of the worst games in the Silent Hill series, and that’s saying a lot, considering how badly the franchise jumped the shark following Silent Hill 4: The Room.
