Looks like fans of the Final Fantasy X/X-2 saga are going to get way more than they bargained for when it comes time to pick up the HD Remaster Square Enix has been working on. A new report from Famitsu (via Siliconera) suggests that there will be an additional voice drama added to the Remaster that takes place a year after the events of the FFX-2.
However, the report also suggests that you don’t need to complete the game to access the drama which, if true, means that it is an extra sequence on top of the previously reported half-hour drama that will play during the end credits sequence. The report further claims this voice drama will include introductions to new characters, and that Square Enix has created illustrations to visually represent the new story content. Finally, it was noted that both the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the HD Remaster will include this bonus voice drama.
As of yet, there’s no word on exactly what these dramas are about in terms of story. Although, if I had to guess, I’d say it’s potentially setting up additional content down the line taking place within the Final Fantasy X series’ universe. Why else would they include a voice drama with only static illustrations introducing new characters? Either way, the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be available sometime later this year for the PS3 as a single SKU, and for PS Vita as two separate titles.
For those who can’t get enough of the remake, Square Enix also released a brand new trailer earlier this morning comparing Final Fantasy X‘s opening cinematic from the original SD version to the HD Remaster. Feast your eyes:
Do you plan on picking up the HD Remaster now that it’s becoming the definitive version of the FFX series? Are you curious about the new story content being added to the games?
