You see what I did there? Ha! Wow, so clever. Incredible wordplay aside, folks interested in the upcoming mobile adaptation of the Deus Ex franchise will be happy to hear the game finally has an official release date, and it’s way sooner than later. Developer Eidos Montreal and Publisher Square Enix have revealed that The Fall is headed to iOS this Thursday, July 11.
The Fall takes place just after the events of the Deus Ex: Icarus Effect novel and focuses on protagonist Ben Saxon. It is a proper adaptation of the series, including all of the story and gameplay mechanics fans would expect in a Deus Ex title. Branching dialogue options leading to alternate story paths, diverse player tactics and upgraded augmentations, and multiple paths to reach the end of a stage are all included in The Fall.
Deus Ex: The Fall is currently only releasing for iOS devices, with an Android version as yet to be determined. The game runs on the iPad 2, iPhone 4S, and iTouch 5, and costs $6.99 to download. The game includes microtransactions, but additional purchases are not required to play through the entire story or unlock any weapons/extras. It’s also worth noting that The Fall is part of a larger overall narrative, which could either mean potential episodic content released for mobile devices, or future entries stretched across other platforms.
Who plans on picking up Deus Ex: The Fall when it releases? Would you rather wait for the next console entry instead? Should Ben Saxon’s story branch out onto consoles alongside Adam Jensen?
