You remember when Team Ninja producer Yosuke Hayashi said that they were toning down the fan service in DoA5 so that players would focus more on the game’s nuanced fighting mechanics? Yeah, forget all that.
Tecmo announced today that the upcoming Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate would receive not just one, not two, but three special Limited Edition packages when it gets released in Japan later this year.
The first special edition is themed around DoA protagonist Kasumi. The 16,590 yen (about $165) package includes a copy of DoA5: Ultimate, a download code for some special costumes, 12 character posters, a set of playing cards featuring the girls from the series, a “bath poster” (whatever that means,) a life-sized poster of Kasumi, and of course, a mousepad with a wrist rest shaped like Kasumi’s breasts, because Japan.
There will also be a special edition dedicated to Momiji, Ninja Gaiden’s rookie kunoichi, who’s joining the DoA roster for the first time with Ultimate. The Momiji special edition will cost the same as the Kasumi bundle, and contains most of the same bonus materials, except instead of the Kasumi poster and boobie mouse pad, you’ll instead get some wank material focusing on Momiji.
If you want both, you can buy a special bundle that includes the items from both special editions for a mere 24,990 yen (about $250.)
Perverts on a budget will be happy to know that a cheaper, third special edition package will also be available. The 11,340 ($112) “value” bundle will include the game, the mammary mouse pad, playing cards, and soundtrack, and the download code for some more “sexy” costumes.
The special editions have only been announced for Japan, and call me crazy, but I really doubt Tecmo Koei’s American branch will release them over here, so interested parties will probably have to import these, uh, “classy” collectibles. They’re expensive, yes, but you can’t put a price on your waifu, can you?
Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 this September. Besides Momiji, this upgraded version of DoA5 also adds in Jacky from the Virtua Fighter series, as well as Rachel from the first 3D Ninja Gaiden. A free to play version will also be released on PSN.
