XSeed Games announced today that all launch copies of Killer Is Dead will come packaged with a some cool freebies, including an art book and some bonus in-game content.
The special launch edition of the game will include an 80 page, hardcover art book, a soundtrack featuring 25 songs from the game, as well as a code for the game’s “Smooth Operator” DLC pack that unlocks protagonist Mondo Zappa’s Gigolo Glasses (which allow him to see through womens’ clothes during the game’s so called “Gigolo” episodes,) alternate costumes for some of the game’s characters, a bonus Gigolo mission, and an exclusive assassination mission.
The best part: all of these bonuses will be included for no additional cost for anyone who buys the game at launch.
Killer Is Dead is the latest assassin themed action game from Goichi Suda, the creator of cult classics like Killer7 and No More Heroes. I really enjoyed the bits of the game I played at E3 a few weeks ago, and while I admit Suda’s avant garde approach to game design isn’t for everybody, I felt that Killer Is Dead might just be his most playable and mainstream friendly game to date. I was a huge fan of both Killer7 and No More Heroes, so I’m pretty hyped for Killer Is Dead — I was planning on buying it anyway, but XSeed’s generous launch bonuses finally got me to stop procrastinating and motivated me to pre-order the game. Even if the game ends up being another love it or hate it affair like Suda’s previous games, I’ll still buy it just to see what bat-shit crazy twists Suda has cooked up this time.
Killer Is Dead will be released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on August 27th.
