We’re less than an hour away from Microsoft’s E3 2013 Presentation, but notable Xbox news is already floating around. As of this morning, Xbox Live went ahead and made Fable III available for download via the Games on Demand digital distribution service completely free of charge. This isn’t some technical glitch either, folks, so don’t worry about feeling guilty about taking advantage of the deal. At the time of this writing, the promotion is still ongoing.
All you have to do is boot up the Xbox 360, visit the “Games on Demand” page, and make your way over to Fable III. When attempting to purchase the game with Microsoft Points, the option will appear as a free download. It’s as simple as that!
This is an interesting move by Lionhead Studios. We know for sure they’re going to make an appearance at the Microsoft spotlight, presumably discussing the Fable Anniversary HD remastering coming to Xbox 360 in the near future. It’s also expected there will be some news concerning Fable 4 as an Xbox One year-one launch title (One of the 15 Xbox One exclusives we’ve been promised will be made available during the console’s first year.)
Fable III is a few years old now, and wasn’t exactly the franchise’s crowning achievement; but it’s hard to argue with a free download. Whether or not the game is worth your time, however, is a debate for another day. For now, Lionhead is preparing to give us a look into Fable’s future. So long as it’s nothing that requires me to flip off my Kinect to cast spells at Hobbes, I’ll be interesting in hearing what the team has to say.
Are you folks interested in downloading Fable III this late in the game? Or have you already lost interest and would rather look ahead to what’s next for the franchise? Share your thoughts in the usual place, and don’t forget to like IGXPro on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, or give us the ‘ol +1 on Google+. And if you can’t get enough of my shenanigans, (who could blame you?) you can check me out @GamingsNirvana, or add +VinnyParisi to your circles.
