American fans of the Tales of series, the wait is almost over! The much anticipated Tales of Xillia is finally making it’s way westward on August 6, and Namco has released the very first English-language trailer, titled “Man and Spirit”, to celebrate. Along with the announcement of a very special collector’s edition, we finally have a sense of how the English translation is coming along. Take a look for yourselves:
I’d say it”s definitely a Tales game. Folks living in Europe and Australia, fret not, you’ll get a taste of everything Xillia has to offer too. You’ll just have to wait a few days extra, as the RPG won’t be available until August 9.
I’m a huge Tales fan, so the wait for Xillia has been borderline excruciating. Tales of Graces f was a marvelously good time, and frankly was one of the few instances I was truly grateful I bought a PS3. Not many exclusive titles are good enough to merit purchasing a console for, but the Tales games Sony has managed to snag for the PS3 can certainly be used as legitimate examples of quality, exclusive third-party support.
While I’ve always preferred turn-based combat over active-combat systems, Tales has always managed to find the right sensible balance to make the active-combat seem less hectic and more manageable. Even if the combat was a chore, the wealth of exploration and narrative make the experience worthwhile just the same. Hopefully, Xillia features as much end-game content as Graces did, because that came as a welcome surprise. August can’t come soon enough! Now, if we could just get Tales of Xillia 2…
