Street Fighter IV is in need of some rebalancing, and Capcom wants players’ input on what they should change with the next patch.
During the World of Capcom panel today, Capcom revealed that the SFIV team is in the middle of developing a new patch for Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. While the new patch won’t bring any new characters or stages into the game, it will re-balance the game’s current roster of fighters. Capcom issued a similar patch last year, entitled “Ver. 2012,” after members of the fighting game community complained that Arcade Edition newcomers Yun and Yang were overpowered.
Capcom is once again using fan feedback to determine how each character should be re-balanced. Capcom is currently soliciting feedback from Ryu, Ken, Sakura, Guile, Sagat, Balrog, Bison, Makoto and Dudley players on the Capcom Unity forums. The SFIV team plans to take re-balancing suggestions for all characters eventually, but they ask that players’ feedback stay focused on those characters for now.
Since the update is still in development, Capcom hasn’t announced when we can expect to see it go live. Since it sounds like the update isn’t going to add any new content, it’s safe to assume that it’ll be free, like all the previous balance updates to the game.
