I know I missed my normal YouTube Tuesday update this week, so I figured I would put together an extra bonus video in the hopes that we can still be friends. This week’s videos are a bit more negative than normal, and while I tend to stick with funny and/or cool videos, I found two this week that really made my blood boil. I don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer and ruin what is usually a fun weekly piece, but sometimes it just can’t be avoided. Take a look at what I mean after the jump, the first video is a bit of an “I told you so,” but even though I was right it doesn’t make me feel any better.
All the way back in July I mentioned how bummed I was that they were turning The Walking Dead into a shooter. I didn’t really come out and say that it was going to be bad because I didn’t want to jump the gun, but it turns out that it’s actually really bad according to pretty much every review I’ve read. There are some who are even saying it’s the worst game they’ve played this year, a bold statement considering we’ve seen a few really bad titles already. Yup, it turns out I was right, The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct looks like just another sad attempt to milk an already well-worn franchise, this time exploiting one of the show’s best characters, Daryl Dixon, in a pathetic attempt to earn more cash.
Normally I don’t really listen to what the reviews say, but after watching a few gameplay videos even I have to admit that someone dropped the ball. When are these companies going to learn to treat the existing IPs that we love with a bit more care?

Imagine you’ve been playing games for years and you finally put together a CoD team that can compete in a big tournament. After months or even years of hard work and practice, you’re team makes it to the European Call of Duty championship. You’re probably pretty psyched right? Well in reality some of those who actually made it to the tournament are complete dicks, trampling all over any sort of sportsmanship to yell, scream, and generally make fools of themselves in a major tournament. It’s pretty sad that a group of guys who get to play a game for a living act in this sort of manner.
I shouldn’t be surprised by stuff like this anymore, but I am. What’s most notable to me is how everyone seems ok with it, as if it’s just all part of the game. As E-Sports grow and tournaments like this become more popular, it would be wise for those who organize such events to do everything they can to curb this type of behavior.
