Gearbox’s Randy Pitchford has been openly discussing his company’s plans for future Borderlands 2 DLC with fans on Twitter, and he let it slip that that the popular FPS/RPG hybrid will soon get a totally brand new, sixth playable character class, as well as an increased level cap.
When asked about the possibility of more characters, Pitchford replied with an emphatic “Almost certainly yes. We’re working on it.” Pitchford didn’t divulge any specifics about the new character, adding “Sorry I can’t offer more yet – I get skewered when things change in development, whatever the reason.”
Gearbox has been supporting Borderlands 2 with regular DLC releases ever since the game was released last Fall: in addition to new campaign content, Gearbox added a fifth playable character, the Mechromancer, shortly after the game’s release. The new DLC that Gearbox is developing would be part of a new “season” of content, so players with a Season Pass to Borderlands 2 will need to buy the new round of DLC separately.
Now if they’d only put this much effort into their other games…
