Following weeks of rumors, Capcom finally confirmed today that the previously 3DS exclusive Resident Evil Revelations will be getting an “enhanced” port over to the Xbox 360, PS3, PC and Wii U this Spring.
Dubbed the “Unveiled Edition,” the new port of Revelations will feature improved graphics and lighting, as well as new content like a new difficulty level, new weapons, a new kind of enemy, and new items. Fan favorite character Hunk will also be added as a playable character in the game’s co-op Raid mode.
Resident Evil Revelations was released for the 3DS last year and received pretty good reviews; some bland monster designs aside, I think it’s a better RE game than RE6, though admittedly that’s a low bar to clear. If RE6 left you disappointed then this new version of RE: Revelations might just be enough to tide you over until the next “real” Resident Evil. It’s worth noting that the same source who originally leaked the existence of Revelations’ HD port also said that Capcom was creating an enhanced (some would say “fixed,”) port of RE6 for Wii U, but Capcom has yet to substantiate that rumor.
Resident Evil Revelations: Unveiled Edition will see a retail release for Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U on May 21st. A downloadable version of the game will also hit PSN and PC on the same day, while Xbox 360 and Wii U users will have to wait until an unspecified later date if they’d prefer to download the game.
