Yahoo! Mail Gets A Makeover

Yahoo! Mail Gets A Makeover

Chad Buenaflor 12 Dec

Yahoo Inc. has made changes to their web mail service last Tuesday which now sports a cleaner look and loads up pretty fast. This is the first major change that the company implemented on one of their products after chief executive Marissa Mayer took over the leadership position five months ago.

You will notice that accessing Yahoo! Mail on your PC is faster this time since most of the other unnecessary features that load up previously were taken out. What you have this time is purely email which is what people want.

Meyer posted in the official Yahoo blog “You’ve told us loud and clear that you want fewer distractions when it comes to email. You want to quickly login, communicate, and get on with your day.” She further added “We’ve redesigned the new version of Yahoo! Mail with speed in mind — getting through your emails is faster than ever before.”

The company has also made updates for Yahoo! Mail on mobile devices which affect smartphones and tablets. This is in line with the company’s vision to prioritize the mobile experience. The new app is available for Windows 8, Android and iOS devices.

Accessing the new webmail on your computer now will now provide more productivity for users while the mobile version is designed to let people easily see their mails and send out quick replies. If you access the service on a tablet then you will be able to easily manage your inbox and compose new messages.

The company is sorely lagging behind in its mobile presence but hopefully the introduction of the new mobile app will change this.

Yahoo is still the number one free web email service provider in the US today but ranks third worldwide. In worldwide results Google’s Gmail ranks first followed by Microsoft’s Hotmail.
