Lara Croft was inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records in 2006 as the most Successful Human Virtual Game Heroine. The archaeologist that’s in a never ending pursuit for a long lost relic. I often think of her as the female Indiana Jones, but with better skills! It’s true, she has been around for awhile, but who really knows how she got to where she is today anyways? Where did she pick up those instincts, moves and that puzzle solving expertise? How does she know how to survive in, well, pretty much any horrible situation or weather condition? In the upcoming Tomb Raider we get to look at how Lara’s roots got established. Story goes she was on a ship that crashed and she was washed ashore on an island where she had to learn to fight to survive. She gets kidnapped and an attempted, ahem we’ll call it, ‘assault’ is in progress when she has to make the decision to kill or be killed. We know how Lara would react now, but what about when she was a frightened young woman whose never wanted or had to take another person’s life before now?
Define who Lara is by going back to her youth and reliving her tale to find out how this defining moment really happened. Explore new tombs and weapons like never before with physics-based gaming to make her movements and the environments ever more realistic. I’m pumped with the bow, since personally it’s my favorite weapon. To each their own. Then there is the puzzles. Ouch my head! Fun and satisfying when completed, but if you’re a slight ‘r-tard’ like myself, it can be long and frustrating. If you get it on your own though, without looking up how to solve it via online (I’m talking to you Brother), it sure does make you feel good. A little bit proud and we bit smart too! Then you take a little break and some migraine medication and you get right back to the next one! Phew!
This “Pre-quel” as I would label it, is due out March, of next year. The deals? Well you know me 🙂 *Crack Knuckles* Here we go. Amazon offers the usual, free super saver shipping, and includes an art book, an in-game “hunter” skin that makes Lara appear to be covered in MUD!! What’s up now Predator? You can’t see me!!!! Sorry, got carried away there. Amazon is also giving away a Director’s Cut Kindle Fire Edition. Worth it for the collector types I’d say. The big yellow tag guys, Best Buy, is also giving away a cosmetic skin item, that features a bomber jacket so when you play as Lara you can look like a 1930s explorer. This may go well with the six-part, 48-page comic book
they are throwing in. Wally world (Walmart) is being stingy with nothing but the free shipping on orders over $45.00 blah blah broken record loop de loop.
Gamestop? Eh, they are giving a challenge tomb to explore. Perhaps what’s inside is worth ordering from Gamestop but I’d almost aim for the deal on Amazon. I mean come on, Mud Armor people!!!!
