Philips is one of the world’s most trusted electronic brands with products ranging from consumer audio devices to light bulbs. Did you know that the company also offers mobile phones? The company recently revealed their Android smartphone model called the Xenium W832. This model boasts of several great features that will definitely be of interest to anyone looking for a new Android smartphone.
What caught my interest to this device is its dual mode capability. Unlike other devices that have a dual sim feature which makes them operate on two GSM networks simultaneously the W832 can operate on both GSM and CDMA networks. This means that it is possible to be on AT&T and Verizon at the same time with this model. If you want wider network coverage then you’ll definitely love this model.
Here’s the quick technical specification of the device
- Display: 4.5” Qhd IPS
- Dimensions: 131 x 67.5 x 11 mm,
- Weight: 170.5gms,
- Processor:1GHz Dual Core
- OS: Android 4.0 ICS,
- Talk Time: 11hrs
- Browsing Time: 9 hours
- Network: Dual Mode (WCDMA & GSM),
- Single Click to access Power Saving Mode,
- Camera: 8MP with Auto Focus and Flash,
- Data: Wi Fi b / g / n, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, USB 2.0
- Storage: 4GB internal, expandable to 32 GB
- Battery: 2400Li-Ion mAh
While the specifications are a bit outdated as most of the major manufacturers are now releasing quad core smartphones it is still quite impressive. It’s going to run on Ice cream Sandwich straight out of the box with a planned upgrade to Jelly Bean in the works.
The Philips Xenium W832 isn’t out in the market yet and the company hasn’t provided any official news as to when it will be released and how much it will cost. There are however some online shops who are already pre-selling this device at an absurd price of USD490.

I remeber the xenium lineup in the early 2000’s to have long battery life. Hope this android model lives up to the xenium legacy.
