Xbox Live is celebrating its 10th anniversary this week, and to celebrate Microsoft is giving away free downloads of the Kinect controlled castle trashing game. In addition to that, a number of Xbox Live Arcade’s most popular games have been discounted fifty percent.
Castle Crashers, Bastion, and Battlefield 1943 are discounted down to 600 MSP each, while Peggle, Full House Poker and Fruit Ninja Kinect will all set you back 400 MSP each. The original XBLA hit Geometry Wars (a.k.a. the best game from the 360’s launch,) has been discounted to a paltry 200 MSP. If you haven’t picked up Castle Crashers and Bastion yet, I highly recommend both titles, especially if you’re a fan of old-school hack-and-slash games.
In addition to the discounts, Microsoft’s Major Nelson will be giving away 1 year Gold subscriptions on Twitter throughout the day — Just send a tweet to @MajorNelson about your favorite Xbox Live memories, and make sure to tag the message with the hashtag #XboxLiveis10. A new winner will be selected every hour until 6pm Pacific time.
