Blizzard has officially announced that the next part of the Starcraft 2 “trilogy,” Heart of the Swarm, will be on store shelves and available for digital download on March 12th, 2013.
The Zerg focused expansion will be available in a variety of different packages: new players can buy the expansion pack bundled with the original game, Wings of Liberty, for a reasonable $59.99. Existing Starcraft players will be able to buy Heart of the Swarm on it’s own for $39.99. A digital “Deluxe” version will be also be available exclusively on Battle.net for $59.99, and will include exclusive Battle.net portraits, a unique look for your Ultralisks in multiplayer, an exclusive pet for use in World of Warcraft, and an exclusive sigil for your Diablo 3 character. If you’d rather pay for a physical limited edition, the $79.99 Collector’s Edition includes all the bonus content from the digital Deluxe package, and a special behind the scenes Blu-Ray, a hardcover artbook featuring concept art from the game, and a Zerg themed mouse pad.
Now if you excuse me, I’m going to start planning strategies for how to counter the inevitable millions of Korean teenagers who will try to Zerg rush me once this game comes out.
