Bioware has been dropping a lot of hints lately that a Dragon Age sequel will be there next “big” game, and if some screenshots leaked from a customer survey are real, we may have just gotten our first glimpse at the third game in the series.
According to a poster over at Bioware’s offical forums, these leaked pictures are apparently taken from a marketing survey designed to gauge interest in future Bioware titles, and they apparently show the main character from Dragon Age 3. The survey also allegedly reveals some details regarding the story: The player character is an “Inquisitor,” tasked with discovering the source of a magic portal that has begun spawning demons who have begun attacking the land. Like, Dragon Age 2, it appears as though your character’s race and appearance are preset, but players will be able to chose their Inquisitor’s gender and class (warrior, wizard, or rogue.) The survey also mentions that the game will feature online co-op and will have at least ten companion characters who can join your party.
After Dragon Age 2’s mixed reception, it’ll be interesting to see if Bioware takes DA3 back to the original game’s RPG roots or sticks with the sequel’s more action-oriented gameplay. Unlike most fans of the series, I didn’t completely hate Dragon Age 2 — yes, it was very different, but it was a good enough action RPG in it’s own right — but I wouldn’t mind getting a more a traditional RPG, either. Anyway, while the info in this rumor could’ve easily been faked, it seems to come from a credible source, and I’m sure we’ll hear some official statement from Bioware soon.
