In The Distant Future…

In The Distant Future…

Richard Dang 06 May

Released on May 2nd, 2012 and deveoped by Ronimo Games, Awesomenauts is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that consists of 3-on-3 matches. There are a total of six Awesomenauts to choose from which all depends on your play style. The game is currently available on both Play Station 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. It is purchasable through the Play Station Store and Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Xbox LIVE points or the equivalent of ten dollars.

Awesomenauts will have online multiplayer as mentioned before where you can enter a match making lobby with up to five other players. You can also create a party by inviting your friends and playing along side them either locally on LAN or through the internet. There will also be private matches available if you ever want to challenge your friends to a friendly or competitive match. You will also be able to join in-progress games to avoid waiting for a match to finish before you can start playing. Whenever a player leaves the match mid-way an AI-controlled character will be added in to ensure fair gameplay for both teams.

If you ever have to urge to practice your skills without hurting your overall rank, Awesomenauts will include a practice mode where you can play against AI-controlled characters. If you’re wondering what a MOBA game is as mentioned earlier, it is a game genre that enables you and your allies to defeat the enemy team by destroying their base before they destroy yours, leaving the last base alive the winner.

Like all fun games, Awesomenauts will features six comepletely different playable characters, each will their own special skills. These are just the default characters at the launch of the game but there will be more characters added in the months to come. Each individual character will have upgrades and will be customizable as well which allows you to choose your preferable style of gaming. If you visit the official Awsomenauts website, you can view each characters’ backstory and abilities to get a head start if you’re planning to buy the game.

If you’re too lazy and still want to read on, I’ll quickly mention them right now. All the playable characters are mercenaries from around the universe that have join the Awesomenauts team to fight against evil robot armies.

Froggy G:  Also known as Nate Frogg, a badass Toad destined for crime. After ending his  gangsta ways, Froggy G became a hired gun which was the only way to make money after his music tracks didn’t make him much.

Sheriff Lonestar: A Bovinian citizen and professional cowboy that rode a rocketship into the sunset. He now fights as a mercenary in the robot wars combining his cowboy skills with high-tech gadgetry to earn money in order to buy cigars and whiskey.

Leon Chameleon: The most wanted criminal on his planet, and losing his arm in an incident, Leon joined Awesomenauts to make money so he could spend it on women and luxury meals.

Clunk: Robot suffering from anger management issues, Clunk saves money for therapy but ends up losing it to damage compensations. He soon joined the  group for mercenaries to do what he does best, wreck things.

Yuri: A monkey that used to be apart of the Soviet space program. Warpfield radiation boosted Yuri’s mental capacity to extreme levels. The mad scientist monkey relies on his jetpack that gets him where he wants to go.
