Earlier we reported Double Fine, a start up company which recently posted it’s listing on kickstarter.com had gotten over $300,000 in funding. Now they are breaking the all time record for the crowd-source funding site (according to Joystiq) and is now coming close to doubling said record.
“I can confirm that there’s not been a project that has raised as much as this one in such a short timeframe,” the spokesperson told joystiq. Kickstarter says it does not keep a running tally finalized projects, but its listing of ‘Most Funded‘ ventures shows a number of concepts in art and technology that have come close the the one million mark after the 30+ days of funding.
The Kickstarter spokesperson also confirmed that Double Fine’s project “now has more backers than any other project on the site.” The current total of backers sits at over 20,000 and seems to be growing almost by the minute.
Double Fine was originally asking for only $400,000 which only took them an astonishing 8 hours and 11 minutes to achieve. However, they said any additional funding would go into better music and more platforms such as Mac and iOS which seems very likely now as they currently sit at over $823,000 (which is $7,000 more then when I started writing this article 10 minutes ago!) … if you wish to help out the project and maybe get one of their perks to backing them.. well you have 33 days to decide!
