I’m not letting you do this to me again Blizzard. We’ve talked about this before, you’re not allowed to make promises you can’t keep. Am I supposed to believe you this time? Or, is this going to be another one of those, “I know we had plans tonight, but we’re going to have to reschedule for next year.” I really want to believe in a Q2 release for Diablo III, but I’ve heard this all before.
It was early August of last year when Blizzard suggested that Diablo III would still be released in 2011. A little over a month later, the game was pushed back to 2012. Now today, Joystiq is reporting that Diablo III will be released in the second quarter of 2012. Maybe, just maybe, this release date will stick.
This is Blizzard’s Modus operandi, always has been. First, they tell us when they hope their game will be released, which we then take as an actual factual statement. Blizzard then says they are just kidding, and we start to feel sad inside. Repeat.
It seems silly that a company would do this. Keeping me in the loop about the development of a game is a good thing, but other companies manage the same thing without promising anything. The only thing that let’s Blizzard off the hook is the quality of their games once they are released. But really, there has to be a better way for them to get press other than to constantly make headlines with release dates that come on wheels.
Diablo III, by all accounts, looks like it will be another success for Blizzard, and, like always, I will forget the delays once the game is released. Like a date that constantly cancels on me, I’ll make a fuss and generally whine about it, but I’m always willing to reschedule.

To be fair, Blizzard promised nothing, only announced their hopes but set nothing in stone. That’s what they always do, keep dragging the fans along on a whim of hope that the game will be forthcoming sooner rather than later.
