Cover Athlete for Canadian Edition of MLB 12 The Show Announced

Cover Athlete for Canadian Edition of MLB 12 The Show Announced

Chris Hernandez 04 Feb

MLB 12 The Show will be ready just in time for spring training this year and some of you Canucks may be curious who will be on the cover. As it turns out, the Booster Juice endorser and Blue Jays fielder Jose Bautista will be featured front and centre on this year’s Canadian edition of the game.

Jose was the second runner-up for the 2011 American League (AL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award, and he had another stellar season at the plate leading the Majors in home runs with 43. He is certainly a notable choice for the cover as he has been in the media more lately as many may have noticed him on billboards for the popular smoothie chain Booster Juice. “Being named the cover athlete for the Canadian edition of MLB 12 The Show is an exciting honour for me,” said Jose Bautista

MLB 12 The Show is developed and published by Sony so of course it will be an exclusive release to both their systems, the PS3 and PS Vita, this March 6. It will be the first in the series to have a separate cover for another region of the world. If you were not aware,  Boston Red Sox, first baseman, Adrian Gonzalez will be the one lucky enough to grace the US cover. I think it’s a great choice to support non-US sports teams when released outside the US.

MLB The Show has been and continues to be the highest ranked officially licensed baseball title of this console generation (according to Metacritic.com) and the number-one rated sports game over the past four years (according to GameRankings.com) and will expand upon its success with even more refined features. This year’s edition will showcase full PlayStation Move support and a revamped broadcast presentation system.  Specifically for PS Vita, MLB 12 The Show will utilize all of the core gameplay features found in the PS3 version and will allow players to access their Franchise, Season, and Road to The Show save files from either their PS3 or PS Vita, so players won’t have to sacrifice play while away from home, while playing on the big screen.
