Hideo Kojima has recently said in an interview that Kojima Productions doesn’t have the staff to make a third Zone of the Enders game. Even though he is willing to make a third entry in the series, and that the Fox Engine could be used to develop it, there simply isn’t the manpower for the project.
The Zone of the Enders series focuses much more on action than the storyline unlike other games directed by Kojima, but the influences of mecha design can be seen due to the distinctive style of the mecha designer for Kojima’s projects.
Even so the HD remakes of Zone of the Enders 1 and 2 are still being worked on. Kojima has said that those are not too far from their release date. You can watch the brief interview below, Kojima’s translator provides English for those of us who don’t speak Japanese.
So basically, we wont be getting a ZOE3 any time soon as long as Kojima’s staff are working on what he wants finished, but we will be getting HD remakes of the originals. If you’ve not played the ZOE series, I do recommend playing it. It’s what you would expect from a mecha game and is clearly heavily inspired by most mecha anime, and also has all the action you would expect.
