Even though the reception of Devil may Cry has been overwhelmingly negative due to the reboot of Dante’s personality, powers, origins, and looks, every gameplay video turns a few naysayers to the other side.
The video shows Dante caught in a street that actively tries to kill him by crushing him or making him plunge to hisĀ death. The effects used in this are spectacular and pulled off very well as the entire stage dynamically changes right in front of the player to impede his progress.
Though no combat is shown, there is actually a major lack of platforming elements in Devil May Cry’s series as a whole due to the system being optimized for combat, and the few platform sections there are are terrible at best. Even the original had a long string of platforms that would be child’s play in most games, but Dante’s speed and poor acrobatics made it a very tedious portion of the game. Don’t get me started on the cube room in 3 either.
The fifth entry into the DmC games looks to have far better platforming than the predecessors, better combat, and all-round better gameplay.
