The fabled 3DS Circle Pad Pro is back in the news again, this time regarding its battery life. According to reports on Andriasang, an early acquirer claims the instruction manual boasts that a single AAA battery lasts for 480 hours.
Dubbed “Frankenstick” among the sarcastic masses, Capcom’s Circle Pad Pro is an expansion for Nintendo’s 3DS, which comes equipped with Monster Hunter 3G. Capcom will also include the attachment with Resident Evil Revelations, and possibly other titles in the future.
The peripheral was highly ridiculed during its display at this year’s TGS conference, and received even more insults from the fact that it requires a separate AAA battery to operate. Thankfully, 480 hours (or 20 days straight) is an exceptional amount of playtime. Let’s hope these claims are correct, because it’s hard enough having to keep track of the battery life on a portable console.
Though such an excessive battery life is a definite plus, we’re still confident the Circle Pad Pro remains on most peoples list of “gadgets I wouldn’t be caught dead with.”
Of course, if you love Monster Hunter and Resident Evil, you’ll just have to take it. But remember, things could be worse.
