According to Kotaku, from insider information, Dragon Age will be getting the multiplayer treatment. This rumour is not entirely far off as Bioware has included mutiplayer in their 3 iteration of their popular sci-fi RPG, though this makes less sense to me, in terms of gameplay. The mutiplayer will include PVP and PVE interactions as well as the ability to fight, and play as, a dragon (awesome if true).
It seems these will be some sort of arena based matches and will be separate from the game proper, either via download for Dragon Age II or as a part of Dragon Age III. Not many details were given if this combat was one-on-one or if there would be team based battles.
Supposedly this feature is also being built using the Frost Bite 2.0 Engine, that was used for Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed: the Run, which would be a huge upgrade for the Dragon Age series. We won’t know for sure if this is at all factual or complete phooey until Ea or Bioware can confirm it.We’ll keep you posted.
