DICE explains why destruction was reduced, and talks about bug fixes.

Rian Quenlin 17 Nov

Even though the look and sound of destruction in Battlefield 3 is far better than the previous entries, fans have commented that the degree of destruction has fallen significantly. Just about any building in Bad Company 2 for example could be turned into rubble easily, but this number has fallen quite a bit since BF3.

Kertz of DICE said that they wanted to have more focus on the urban combat of 1942 and BF2, and doing that means the destruction of the building needs to be the “Facade” of the building. He did comment that they would like to see better destruction overall. Basically this means that being able to completely destroy a building caused metagame issues in urban maps.

Some bugs in the game include Javelins being unable to hit tanks very well, even if aided by a SOFLAM which is extremely annoying. An overall design issue outside of its poor accuracy is its poor damage overall. Kertz said that is an issue that will be addressed. Expect them to get a good boosts to their overall power soon.

One thing that has plagued PS3 owners is a bit of lag while aiming, which is a much larger issues than you think. Kertz also stated that he is aware of that, and people who know how to fix this kind of thing on the PS3 will be working on it, but couldn’t give any details. So at least you know that some significant issues are being addressed.
