I remember spending a few hours (and probably at least twenty dollars in quarters,) trying to beat Konami’s classic Simpsons beat-em-up with my cousins in a dirty little arcade in Bayonne, New Jersey back in the early 90’s. We made it all the way to the final fight with Mr. Burns, but we ended up running out of quarters (and running down my aunt’s patience,) before we could finish him off. While I had to let Mr. Burns get away without a proper fustigation all those years ago, it seems like I’m finally going to get a second chance to take down Burns and his army of office workers — According to a recent posting by the Australian Classification Board (the Aussie equivalent of America’s ESRB, more or less,) Konami’s classic brawler is headed to consoles very soon.
The new port is apparently being developed by Backbone Entertainment, who most recently worked on another classic Konami beat-em-up port, X-men Arcade. If this new Simpsons arcade game port is anything like the X-Men Arcade game, I think it’s safe to get our hopes up for online co-op and arcade-accurate graphics.
Konami has yet to make any official statements regarding the game as of yet, but I think it’s safe to assume that we’ll be seeing the game show up on XBLA and the PSN Store sooner rather than later, and for a price that’s probably less than the Andrew Jackson I spent trying to beat the original arcade version so many years ago.

Isn’t that the four-player one? I don’t care how much people loved Hit and Run, that was the best Simpson’s game ever.
