Likely a lot of bollocks, as anything said on 4chan that has a significant degree of relevance to the board’s interest is met with “Pics or it didn’t happen.”, it’s far-fetched, but might as well share the details for those who have a love for rumor-mongering.
The rumored details include the identity of the protagonist, a hispanic named Adrian who lived in 2012 San Andreas, beginning in Los Santos and being robbed by local thugs. Rather far from the usual GTA intro of someone being violently backstabbed either in the opening movie or a few hours into the game, and immediately going on a quest of revenge.
Rumors about the setting itself is that, being set in San Andreas 20 years after GTA:SA, is that the area has been developed significantly since then, and that gang turf wars are back in business. This part isn’t too believeable, as GTA4 was set in Liberty City which was nowhere near the Liberty City of GTA3, not by a longshot.
Other rumored details are that the military, now called the National Guard, are making a return as the 6-star wanted level as they were in GTA2, 3, VC, and SA. The cover system which was quite harshly ripped on in GTA4 due to being sensitive and also due to flawed level design has apparently been overhauled completely. Also said by the anonymous user is that the game has 4 endings, and moral decisions that appeared in GTA4 will have a larger impact on the game. This is a major deviation from the established GTA formula I believe, as most of them are “Do the missions how you like and in what order, progress through the story at your own pace.”
Some of these are just too easy to guess, as my own bets on GTA5’s setting is a souped-up Vice City, and of course the weakest points of the game would be fixed, as would things people missed. The trailer length is oddly specific however. The most concrete detail that can be confirmed within a few days is that the length of the trailer is slightly over a minute, and shows the city being quite normal. However, as details emerge, this will either be an actual leak of information, or turn out to be a lot of bollocks. I’m leaning towards the latter.
GTA5 trailer comes out on Nov. 2nd.
