Even if consoles have the advantage of not lagging, having driver errors in spades, OS incompatibility and all sorts of shennanigans, the PC platform has multiple user-end upsides such as more flexible controls, mod use, source-level tweaking, and so on. James Griffiths of Alienware, who create high-power gaming PCs said that the next generation of consoles isn’t about to have a bad effect on PC Gaming.
Griffiths said that the games that come out these days are often on both console and PC, and the massive PC gaming community isn’t going away any time soon. Regardless of what naysayers are spouting on a regular basis, a report by Ignite Game Technologies has shown that the sales of PC games shows that the PC market has brushed aside the console market with a 20%+ lead.
As technology improves, the price of which you can produce high-quality hardware drops as fast as its quality goes up. Just ten or so years ago you would be forking out $400-$500 for a piece of crap, but now we can build incredible desktops for around double that price.
One thing I do know about PC vs Console is that it’s a million times easier to fix a bricked PC than a console. If the dreaded RROD smacks your 360, you better know EXACTLY what you’re trying to do or else you’ll void the warranty and wind up with a nice big paperweight on your desk with parts that can’t even be salvaged.

pc game sales might be greater than console sales, but have you been into a games shop recently?
my local GAME store has one tiny little pc section, the rest is all consoles

People are just buying their PC games in digital stores now, Steam has almost put an end to boxed games it seems.

I kinda like being able to walk into a shop and buy stuff, plus with online stuff, they often forget to tell you important info, like the minimum/recommended spec’s for the game.

Have to agree with that, one look at Steam tells you just how well the gaming market is going for PC games. It really does cut into the profits of local gaming stores quite deeply, sadly.
I’ve not bought a physical game since Etrian Odyssey 3 was released, I wouldn’t be surprised if in the next few years if all games could be digitally downloaded just like that.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if even if game stores became a dying breed we’d still have to put up with region pricing bullshit.
