Notch shows off a new mob, the Enderdragon

Notch shows off a new mob, the Enderdragon

Rian Quenlin 12 Oct

Notch, Creator of Minecraft who is captioned as such more often than Catbert from Dilbert despite everyone knowing exactly who he is, has shown off a video of a new mob called the Enderdragon. If you’ve kept up with Minecraft, you will know that Endermen are strange creatures with teleportation abilities, all coming from an unknown plane, and have a strange habit of stealing blocks. From their plane, is the Enderdragon, video below.

The Enderdragon as you can see is a fairly large black dragon, and also (currently) the largest mob in the game. Other than flight, its most notable feature is its ability to completely obliterate any terrain it comes in contact with, seemingly regardless of its composition. Notch showed off the video as a reason why Enderdragons wont appear in the main surface world of Minecraft, as their destructive abilities could instantly wipe out hours, days, or even weeks of work, and the water physics of Minecraft means that the Enderdragon, though fully working it seems, would cause far too much devestation and unbalance the game.

As if creepers, poisonous spiders, and teleporting murderers weren’t enough, Minecraft will now assault you with all-consuming black holes when you go into the Endermen’s homeland. Enjoy.

I give it roughly 6 hours before a mod is released after they’re added to the game to make them appear on the overworld.
