Ubisoft recently updated the official Facebook page for I Am Alive to reflect the new release date, vaguely stated as Winter 2011.The game was thought to be cancelled as it hasn’t been mentioned since screenshots of the game leaked back in 2009. In addition to that a new description was also added to the page. This details the game as a post-apocalyptic world with everyman as the survivor against a human threat, nothing supernatural.
I Am Alive originally began development at Darkworks studios then was shifted to Ubisoft Shanghai in 2010, though the game was barely more than a rumour at that time, though it was speculated to be released earlier this year with no official word given.
The game follows one of the survivors,Adam Collins, of the “Event” that caused the apocalypse as he searches for his lost wife and child in the wasted remnants of Chicago. According the ESRB page the game is third-person perspective and is comprised of melee and shooting action against human enemies as you can see more of in the video below. It also seems to be very realistic in terms of resource gathering, much like Dead Island. You must find food and water to survive, but it can be stolen by other survivors.
It will be a downloadable title for both Xbox 360 and PS3. It seems highly ambitious and I am very interested in the story and how the game will progress as you discover the cause of the earthquake “Event”. We will update you once a more specific release date is known.
