It might not be as popular as the iPad or even the Galaxy Tab, but the Motorola Xoom is out there to make a name for itself and seems to be doing fine. Why else would the manufacturer even think of investing and releasing a newer, modified version? Yes, we are talking about the yet unannounced Xoom 2 and based on the leaked, confidential images it looks like it is in for a makeover.
Confidential sources and their tip-offs gave experts enough reason to believe that Motorola really worked hard on this device and it might just come to fruition. The simple rectangular block design has been scrapped and a more evolved one with rounded corners has been chosen. This is in addition to the inclusion of microUSB ports, probably for universal charging and other connectivity options and an HDMI port, for obvious reasons. In addition, there are going to be some well designed buttons on the back side for easy access. Tablets might be the rage in the market these days but a good number of users still prefer the feedback of conventional buttons and Motorola does seem to take this seriously! The other addition is a SIM card slot, so the Xoom 2 is going in the footsteps of the other tablets featuring 3G and it will be interesting to see which carrier brings out this device. Verizon can probably be ruled out because of the recent information of a potential tablet being released.
The images show a camera on the rear side with HD engraving. This is something new and the Xoom 2 should be able to benefit from it. Other features and specifications are unknown at the moment but it is possible more information might emerge soon.
