Recent Raptr Report Shows Increasing Number Of Hardcore Gamers Getting Cozy With Zynga “Ville” Games

Andy Codina 28 Sep

When you place Facebook gamers on one end, and hardcore gamers in the other end, most of us would probably NOT think they are in anyway alike – heck, most of us would think they are two different worlds with two different sets of people. However, these two groups might be more similar than you think. Raptor, the popular gaming social network came up with another astounding find with the help of eager statistics. The result of the recent study is from an examination drawn from their huge user base – 10 million or so, to be exact.

The statistics which was posted on the Official Raptr Blog reported several facts and figures at how Raptr users, hardcore video gamers from different walks of games getting cozy with social network games, particularly Zynga. Now, we all know the fact that Zynga is big, it’s huge actually but who would have thought that hardcore gamers on Raptr log more hours playing Zynga games than hours logged playing Gears of War, Mass Effect, GTA and Assasin’s Creed franchises combined.

The highlights of the report was the fact that 20% of WoW players and 12 % of CoD: Black Ops players play Zynga’s Cityville. The report also shows 30% of Xbox 360 players are logging a lot of hours on Zynga games as well. For almost any given Zynga title, between 80% and 95% of players also play another Zynga game. And they play often, like eight sessions a day on average for Ville series gamers – compared to roughly two play sessions a day for Call of Duty and Warcraft series fans.

What the full report actually says is how Zynga is becoming a very large company in the industry of gaming. They literally control the social network gaming industry, and with what the statistics is showing, it won’t take long for them to get their foots on the real-deal gaming industry as well. In the words of Raptr CEO Dennis Fong that Zynga is the master in retaining their market audience. The full report shows that Zynga has pulled more than 90% of its user base from existing games to their last four titles. (FrontierVille, Treasure Isle, CityVille, and Empire & Allies)

In terms of the total time Zynga gamer’s play online, they actually have a big chunk on the pie allotting for 13% in time spent playing online – almost as much time hardcore gaming fans of top core gaming franchises play.
