The first Final Fantasy game to be on one disk, have full 3D environments, voice acting, and the CTB battle system will be coming the the PS3 and the Vita. A representative said that development is progressing but no details were given. All that is known is that this will be a HD port of the PS2 version. Whenever it’s the US version or the International version that added new optional bosses and a second sphere grid, or a brand new edition altogether is not known.I can say that there were multiple problems in FFX that could do with being fixed, most of them balance and difficulty issues. A major example involving the ultimate weapons. You can easily breeze through the entire game without ever having them, or getting them but not unlocking them which is a huge chore in itself. Even getting all of the Aeons including the Magus Sisters and Anima can be a real Guide Dangit for the average player. The biggest problem however is in the difficulty. I was able to do the entire game without leveling up at all in one playthrough, and it was nowhere near as hard as I expected. Yes, that includes the fight against Seymour at Macalania Temple.
Also, for the Americans that don’t know, Europe and Japan got a slightly updated version of FFX which had a lot of neat things to it. Such as the Ribbon ability on armor, distill abilities on weapons, and multiple new optional bosses in the form of the Dark Aeons, and an extremely-powerful superboss called Penance who can take 40-60 minutes to beat because of his power and massive healthbar.
In short, I’m hoping this HD remake is the International version or a completely new version altogether with new content rather than just more polygons on Lulu’s massive belts.

While I hated most of the “modern” Final Fantasies, I thought FFX was alright. Looking forward to this. The announcement of this was the one highlight in Sony’s hour and a half bore-fest tonight. Did they really need to spend an hour of their press conference talking about the system’s start-up menu?

Probably my second favourite FF game, and this is likely due that I have only played ever from 7 onward. Either way, I will be buying this game, just not sure if it will be for Vita or not.

@Michael Nope, they didn’t and I didn’t care for that part either. We want to know what it can do, not how to get to it.
@Chris One of my favorites too, but it’s just so damn easy. Hopefully they’ll up the difficulty and make that Lord Ochu who is so powerful they could “Throw 100 crusaders at it and still lose” even though I walk right up to it, and it’s dead within minutes because of a trainee summoner, two blitzball players, a woman with huge breasts, and a furry, worth fighting.
