Capcom not planning to bring Monster Hunter to the US despite the 3DS sales

Capcom not planning to bring Monster Hunter to the US despite the 3DS sales

Rian Quenlin 10 Sep

The 3DS’s significant price drop along with the ambassador program caused the sales to increase by an extreme amount, and that’s just in the US, while it was already extremely popular in the Japan. The fact that the 3DS is finally getting titles that the fans want is also happens to be a driving factor. If you’re looking forward to the latest entry in the Monster Hunter series however which was recently confirmed for Japan, you might want to pick up a Japanese study guide.

Even if Monster Hunter 3G has been confirmed in Japan and has been warmly popular elsewhere it might not be coming to the US, despite having a circle pad addon that comes with the game according to the Japanese magazine Famitsu,to help bring proper camera navigation to the portable. The attachment also features two shoulder buttons, likely to incorporate PS3 style gameplay. Capcom has said “There are no plans to bring it to the West for now”. This isn’t the only Monster Hunter title that hasn’t been released outside of Japan, as MH Portable 3rd on the PSP was given similar treatment.

Monster Hunter 3G is the standard fare for Monster Hunter, but puts the 3DS to good use with the common theme of easy interaction of menus with the touch screen. The controls will also use the touch screen to quickly turn to face certain beasts in the heat of the moment, and will have functions for when you hunt for monsters.

There is local wireless play, but there is apparently no online play which is not really a big deal in Japan. The slide pad accessory has functions in MH3G by adding more buttons and an analog input that I’ll detail a bit later.

The game has 3D support, but it’s not important to the gameplay, remaining cosmetic for those who want it, but the game’s design put a good amount of emphasis on making the 3D look as good as possible.

The new accessory will likely increase popularity for the game to those who prefer dual analog controls. Whether this is only for Monster Hunter or if other games will compatibility with it in the future is unknown. The device itself is called the Circle Pad, and looks quite unique.
