A week ago, Nintendo announced that they were giving current 3DS owners 20 free games. 10 of them from the NES, and 10 from the GBA. Only 5 from each are officially confirmed however.
The GBA games confirmed are Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$, and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. The confirmed NES games are Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, and the original The Legend of Zelda.
Recently, they added two more to the list. Super Mario Bro’s Advance 4, which is a remake of Super Mario Bros 3 for the NES, and the GBA game Kirby and the Amazing Mirror. Who doesn’t like Kirby? Nobody.
These free games are only available to those who purchase a 3DS before the August 12th price drop, and sign into the eShop. It’s not clear if you’ll be able to get the games again if the system breaks or if you buy a new 3DS, but it’s well known that Nintendo consoles are tanks that never break without intentional abuse.
I really think Nintendo is going a bit too far on this to be honest. The price drop is more than enough of a selling point, but free games to those who bought it, a huge pay slash on executives, and an apology? The console isn’t selling as well as they expected but that’s okay, it hits rough spots because it’s a new technology.
