Amy: Survival Horror Game Set for Summer Release

Amy: Survival Horror Game Set for Summer Release

Chris Hernandez 27 Jun

Paul Cuisset, creator of the Guinness Book awarded number one selling French game of all time, Flashback: The Quest for Identity, is going to be bringing his talent to the Playstation 3 by way of a new Survival/Horror title. Amy is based off the future where global warming is running rampant and spread death and disease.

Lana, the main character, is awoken in a city called Silver City after a comet has hit, destroying most of the city. Along with the destruction the comet also brought a virus which is turning everyone into terribly disfigured creatures and Lana is no exception. You must beat the transformation by collecting medical kits off dead soldiers, or find the girl named Amy.

Amy is the only person not affected by the virus and being close to her causes Lana to begin to heal and recover from this new virus taking over the city. Amy does not speak so the game is essentially about Lana protecting this speechless girl and escape whatever poison is taking over. You can use Amy’s smaller size to solve various puzzles in the game. Holding Amy’s hand also allows you o be healed and detect threats based on her heartbeat.

the development team at Lexis Numérique has tried to create more realistic world as Lana is not a skilled fighter so you will be spending a lot of time hiding from enemies, or letting your infection worsen so you can wal through areas undetected. Becoming fully infected will cause you to get a game over and while infected you must be wary of soldiers who will kill any infected they see. The goal is simply to get to a safe area and find a cure for this disease.

This downloadable title will be available later this summer on PSN.

The early 200’s were the golden age of Survival/horror games with titles like Silent Hill and Fatal Frame creating truly frightening experiences, which likely also took inspiration from one of the most popular horror series of all time, Resident Evil. The last couple years developers have been trying to get back to what made the genre so popular. Amy seems to be it.
