The editor-in-chief for IGN, Hilary Goldstein, has announced that he is resigning from IGN by his own free will after a decade of working with them. On his blog, he says that he is thankful to work with people who work hard to make sure IGN is one of the top sites for gamers, that they do the job because they love working with each other.
He says that his reason for quitting his job is because of the massive amount of time he has invested in working with IGN. Ten years as a reviewer is something that I can imagine from my own reviewing days which have been on and off. Having to play through multiple games, form an opinion, gather screenshots and facts, and having to deal with fans when I give a game a score for being absolutely terrible is something I can relate to.
Goldstein however has been at that for ten years, a very demanding and difficult job that yields a very slow form of reward. He gives his thanks to all the people he has worked with in the past, directly and indirectly. Whenever he will go back to reviewing in the future is unknown.
When such a well-known and well-respected person leaves their job like this, where they worked changes greatly.
