Even after the Nintendo press conference many questions were left unanswered regarding the Wii U. The hottest one being the price, though no firm number has been announced, Iwata did confirm it will cost more than $250, which is the selling price for the 3DS right now. This is according to an interview the Nikkei newspaper had with Nintendo’s president yesterday who is reported saying that the new console will not sell at the same price as the Wii.
This news may not really be a surprise considering the new controller with a built in screen coming bundled with the new, more powerful console. All else from this point is pure speculation but I would wager that Nintendo will not price the Wii U any higher than $350 to keep it competitive with current gen consoles but to still make some profit, which the big N has been losing up until the launch of the 3DS.
The price will likely be leaked by a major retail outlet before it is officially announced, sometime in the coming months.
