Final Fantasy XIII-2 director Motomu Toriyama told Game Informer that sequel will feature a more grown up than previous Final Fantasy titles by including a deeper love story. Toriyama says, after talking about the love interest in the game, “Earlier we were talking about choices and interactivity. Final Fantasy XIII-2 will have multiple endings for the first time in the history of the franchise, That might have some connection with what we were talking about earlier with love stories. So the endings may have something to do with a love story. It could be a very grown up type of Final Fantasy.”
This is certainly a change for the Final Fantasy universe as your choices and actions in the game have never affected the grand finale before now. The ending of Final Fantasy games are always full of obscure, interesting and dramatic elements that were beautifully rendered, since Final Fantasy 7.
I am curious how many endings there will be and whether it will come down to an end game dialogue option that determines it.

Deeper love story and multiple endings, where have I heard that before?
