Logic 3’s firearm controllers possibly in violation of UK law

Logic 3’s firearm controllers possibly in violation of UK law

Rian Quenlin 31 May

In case you don’t know, firearms are very strictly controlled in the UK. Very few private citizens can have them, and they’re reserved for law enforcement in most cases. There are also laws regarding replica firearms in order to prevent issues.

Logic 3 has released a black SMG and shotgun as addons for the Playstation Move’s controller. As you can see in the picture, it is rather easy to tell that it’s a replica from the bright orange and the white ball on the end of it. Not to mention being made of plastic.

The Violent Crime Reduction Act which was passed about four years ago says that all guns that would be available to minors must be brightly colored, including shades of red, green, blue, pink, or yellow. Transparent materials are also permitted.

Now, the law isn’t the most rigid in its raw form, saying that it must be the primary color of the toy. However, it’s clear that black is the primary color of the controller. However, the law only applies when the replica is sold to minors. It would be simple to make a policy that says “Because our government is a freakin’ nanny state, we can only sell this gun to adults.”, meaning that anyone with a nearby adult can just get it anyway.

Still, I feel that Logic 3 isn’t really taking a stand on this, and is actually trying to drum up controversy for sales. So far it seems to be working since it’s a pretty stylish gun and I know a few people that could use one. It’s a fact that controversy is the best form of advertising these days, and it’s easy to push the right buttons on people.
