If you own a PS3, you’ll probably notice that the new firmware update has been causing a large amount of overheating on some consoles. Well guess what, that’s not what’s happening. The issue is with Rockstar’s latest release LA Noire. The PS3 and XBox 360 are running into several issues present in the game, causing the consoles to overheat and freeze up.
LA Noire is a huge game that pushes the consoles to their limits, and is causing a lot of freezing and stuttering problems as the console is heavily taxed. If you’re not in the know, the specs of a console are actually extremely low compared to a PC, but their dedicated nature means they produce a lot of heat , which sharply impacts the performance of the hardware.
A Rockstar customer rep had pinned the blame on Sony’s firmware update, but when the problem became noticeable on the XBox 360, they quickly retracted that statement and released a workaround until a solution was found, admitting their screwup. The info provided is rather basic however and stuff most console gamers should know anyway.
Even though only LA Noire players appear to be having the overheating issue, it’s possible that this can be an incompatibility between the PS3 firmware and LA Noire, causing the two to not play nice, since not everyone is having problems. People are still quick to blame Sony for an issue that’s only hitting one game, I think they’ve had enough grief for this year.

I don’t exactly consider it “talking shit” when the developers of the game admit there’s a problem.
