During a dinner between Hideo Kojima, director of the Metal Gear series, producer/artist Tatsuya Nomura, art director of Metal Gear Yoji Shinkawa, and the CEO of Square Enix Yoichi Wada, Kojima claims they were talking about the oft-awaited remake of Final Fantasy VII.
One of Kojima’s followers on his Twitter account asked him to tell Nomura to remake FFVII when he announced he was going to be having dinner with them, and he passed it on.
Kojima might have been just saying them in jest, as he also said “Hurry up and release Kingdom Hearts 3D.” and “Tell Wada I’m waiting for Seiken Densetsu 5.”, it could’ve been a small business thing, or just a casual dinner between friends. I’m sure that Mr. Nomura retaliated with “Add trophies to Metal Gear Solid 4.”
The odds of FF7 ever getting a remake is slim, but then again, Square has had a bit of a record remaking and porting a few of their titles, especially the older Final Fantasy titles. They only have a few remakes on their record, like Final Fantasy 1 and 2, and Kingdom Hearts RE: Chain of Memories.
