Riot Games to show off their latest Champion in League of Legends, Vayne

Rian Quenlin 08 May

Despite having champions that range from royal knights, bioweapons, cute yordles with blowguns (and bazookas), pirates, a little girl with a killer stuffed animal, piloted mechanical monstrosities, cosmic horrors, an overweight drunken brewer, and blind monks, the developers at Riot Games don’t think that’s enough variety and are adding a new character to their roster, Vayne the Night Hunter.

Giving a glance at her move list, Vayne appears to be best described as a “badass normal” who can chase down fleeing champions heading back to their base, and be a royal pain to escape from and avoid. She can also dish out percentage-based damage and also pin people to walls for a brief time. There’s no denying that Vayne’s specialty is chasing down and killing champions that dare flee the battlefield.

Riot Games will be doing a live preview of the new champion on Monday (that’s tomorrow) at 7PM PST, along with a discussion thread and seeing her in action. Clear your schedule and call in sick to your boss if you work night shift.

For those not versed in League of Legends, I’ll explain it in brief. Each player controls a mighty champion who is a summoned hero, who do battle with other powerful heroes from across the universe. The game itself is a hybrid of real-time-strategy and RPG, with each round completely instanced and lasting from 30 minutes to an hour on average. It really is a good way to waste a few hours.

I need to use a champion other than Miss Fortune or Lux, hell, I don’t even use Miss Fortune that much. I’ll be using her quite a lot once she’s out.
