A teenager in Canada who cannot be named for legal reasons (and believe me I would name him right here if I had it) accused of murdering Charlotte Jolly back in 2009 was busted by a bugged game and an uncle who was in on the deal.
The uncle agreed to help the police by recording the boy making a confession in exchange for a drunk-driving charge being completely dropped. During an all-nighter playing Guitar Hero, the criminal had recounted his story of when he murdered her with a rifle, all of it caught on mic. He was shortly arrested afterwards once he had blurted to the satisfaction of the Police.
Not sure how he got him to admit that he had shot and killed her to be honest, you’d have to be an idiot to just kill someone, and an even bigger idiot to not keep your mouth shut about it. In court, his lawyer had stated that even though he will admit to killing her, they will likely find his intent and use it as a defense. I don’t see that going down well.
In a related story, a witness attacked the accused in the courtroom verbally which caused him to violently attack the witness resulting in a square-off right there in the courtroom. Unfortunately he wasn’t whipped by the prosecutor.
