A Reuters report from Tokyo has revealed that Sony was able to have the personal details of 2500 people pulled from an unnamed website. The details included names and some addresses of those compromised, but the information was not extensive.
Fortunately, none of the leaked info included credit card numbers, passwords, or the like. The specific info was from people who entered a sweepstakes contest back in 2001, which for some reason was still on record ten years later.
This likely means that if you have given any info to Sony at any point in time, someone has it. I doubt you haven’t moved at least once in the last ten years, and if someone could be malicious with your name and address, the entire world would be straight up the creek. Regardless, the more facts about this known, the better.
